Affidavit of Support.

Affidavit of support must be provided by each USA DV Lottery winners and their dependants on the day of their interview in the form of I-134 to the interviewing consular officer. Affidavit of support must be provided by a Petitioner who must be an USA citizen or USA LPR holder. Petitioner must sign it in front of any authorized American Official and send a copy of it to the DV Lottery winner in time to meet the diversity visa interview date. Further more Petitioners must send supporting papers as per the I-134 requirements. The diversity greencard lottery Instructions clearly says that each selected person for the DV Lottery must provide one Affidavit of Support for him to be issued with the required immigration visa once he meets all the other requirements.

The Affidavit of support is normally called as sponsor letter in all parts of the world. Many people submit a person’s name as Petitioner in the application form and later they want to change the Petitioner’s name and want to give a new Petitioner’s name for the Affidavit of support. It is not a problem to change the Petitioner’s name. All they need is one genuine Affidavit of support for the DV Lottery winner on the day of the interview.

Those Green card lottery winners who can't provide an affidavit of support can be his self sponsor if he has all the resources. They must have enough funds in possession to survive in the USA with out the help of public resources. They must have a pre arranged job to take on arrival and that the offer should be certified by an authorized personal.

The above rule will apply for the all DV Lottery winners who are staying in the USA and trying to change their current status to the American LPR status.

Take note, some consular offices want I-864 Affidavit of Support Form instead of the I-134 Affidavit of Support Form. It is better to read your own country consular section web site regarding the required form to be submitted on the interview date as Affidavit of Support.
