DV 2011 application form will be available in the internet this year. This is the next American visa lottery which is going to accept entries from eligible people to participate in the American Government's official diversity visa program. The diversity visa lottery program is operated by the U.S State department to issue 50,000 Immigrant visas to eligible people form eligible countries. These application forms for the DV Lottery will be available in the form of E-DV only and paper entries are not accepted any more.

This visa by lottery program is called also as green card lottery in many part of the world. The successful entrants will be issued with green card in the USA. This will allow the holder to live and work permanently in the USA; if meet certain conditions may apply for the USA citizenship after living there for some years.

The DOS is operating and looks after the congressionally mandated Diversity Immigrant Visa Program every year under the terms of Section 203(c) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). Section 131 of the Immigration Act of 1990 (Pub. L. 101-649) amended INA 203 and provides for a class of immigrants known as “diversity immigrants.” Section 203(c) of the INA provides a maximum of 55,000 Diversity Visas (DV) each fiscal year to be made available to persons from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States. The lottery gives 50,000 visas and no country can get more than 7% of the total visas.

To enter in to this program a person must have eligible native country qualification. Must have successfully completed 12 years of junior and high school education or must have 2 years of work experience in an occupation approved by the DOL, within the last 5 years after attending a 2 year education/training program.
