DV 2010

DV 2010 was the last held American visa lottery in the year 2008. It did accepted entries from eligible people for a period of 60 days to participate in the DV2010 visa lottery program through the American Government's official web site. The diversity visa lottery program is officially operated by the U.S State department to issue 50,000 Immigrant visas. Application form for the entry is available in the form of E-DV in the internet only and paper entries are not accepted any more.

This immigrant visas issuing by lottery program is called also as green card lottery in many part of the world. The successful entrants will be issued with green card in the USA after certain procedures. This will allow the holder to live and work permanently in the USA; if meet certain conditions may apply for the USA citizenship after living there for some years.

The DOS is operating and looks after the congressionally mandated Diversity Immigrant Visa Program every year under the terms of Section 203(c) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). Section 131 of the Immigration Act of 1990 (Pub. L. 101-649) amended INA 203 and provides for a class of immigrants known as "diversity immigrants." Section 203(c) of the INA provides a maximum of 55,000 Diversity Visas (DV) each fiscal year to be made available to persons from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States.

The lottery gives 50,000 visas each year under this program and no country can get more than 7% of the total visas.

DV 2010 Results.
DV 2010 results were sent by normal post to those lucky applicants who were selected in the computer random draw at the KCC. This announcement was sent from May 2009 to July 2009. Those who are not selected were not sent with any notifications.

For the first time in the DV Lottery history those who had applied online for the dv lottery program can check to see whether they are selected for the program or not through the DV web site. This facility was opened from July 1, 2009, until June 30, 2010. To check about your selection online, you will need your confirmation number and some personal details.
