DV 2011 applications were allowed to submit their entries through the internet web site and once the entry was successfully accepted the computer screen displayed a unique code which is called as Confirmation Number along with the name of the applicant.
The 16 digit code used to contain 20111 and digits and alphabets.
With this confirmation number will allow all the applicants to check their status online to see whether they are selected for the program or not for further processing, from July 2010 till June 2011.

So if you are applying for the US visa lottery, don't forget to copy the confirmation number.
1. You can make a print out of that page.
2. You can copy and paste the number in a notepad or MS word and can save it in your computer.
3. Write it down carefully in a piece of paper and keep it in a safe place.

Don't forget, if you were unable to save the confirmation number or lost the saved one, it will not be reissued to you and you can't do the online status check.
If you missed one of the 16 number or letter the code will not work in the internet.

All the selected winners' green card lottery program will be notified by regular postal mail to their given addresses and those who are not selected for the green card lottery program will not get any notification.
